Malta registers its first Bitcoin ATM

Recently, Malta has been an active playground for all the advances related to cryptography. About a week ago, Malta approved three bills related to the cryptocurrency and the blockchain. On July 14, a company called Moon Zebra launched a bidirectional Bitcoin ATM.

Moon Zebra is an ATM company that allows users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Litecoin (LTC) instantly with cash. It claims to remove the hassles of negotiation in online exchanges that expose a user to hacking threats, misuse of sensitive information and other cybercrime.

In 2017, Malta lost its first Bitcoin ATM, which caused a loss of more than 3,000 euros. Moon Zebra, on the other hand, hopes to change the scenario with four on-board crypto specialists working on the installation of these ATMs.

How does Crypto-ATM work?

The crypto-ATM works similarly to a cash ATM. The following are the steps involved:

• Deposit of fiduciary money

• Enter the public key

• The cryptocurrency will be received by the respective wallet

A bidirectional encrypted ATM means that one can also convert your cryptocurrency into fiat money instantly. This assumes the role of exchanges of cryptocurrencies and other related platforms.

However, Malta does not walk alone in this technological progression. Bitcoin ATMs have been detected in several places in the United States and Europe.

According to Coin ATM Radar, a website that places Bitcoin ATMs around the world, Detroit had up to 80 Bitcoin ATMs in mid-June. In Michigan, the Bitcoin ATM count was around a dozen, while there were more than 2,000 across the country.

Bitcoin ATMs in the US UU they are slowly entering communities like Union Gap, Washington; Indianapolis, Indiana; Charlotte, North Carolina; Fresno, California; Chicago; Washington DC; Louisville, New York and Kentucky.

Europe has not been left behind in the establishment of cryptocurrency ATMs. Recently, a Dutch citizen apparently saw a Bitcoin ATM at the Amsterdam airport. The citizen also posted an image on a Bitcoin subreddit.

A Crypto ATM also gives people the ability to circumvent exchanges and, at some levels, cryptographic ATMs could solve the centralized problem of exchanges. The cryptographic ATM of Moon Zebra initially will only work with Bitcoin, although that could change in the future.
